PARIS, July 12 (UPI) -- It should come as no surprise that Cristiano Ronaldo forwards UEFA's Team of the Tournament for Euro 2016.
The Portuguese star is joined by teammates Raphael Guerreiro, Pepe, and Rui Patricio. The Germans have the second most players on the squad with, Joshua Kimmich, Jerome Boateng, and Toni Kroos. Dimitri Payet and Antoine Griezmann cracked the squad from the French side. Aaron Ramsey and Joe Allen were called on from Wales.
Griezmann was also named Player of the Tournament.
Ronaldo and Pepe had been selected for the squad twice previously. Ronaldo is also on the All-Time EURO 11.
"The team was selected by UEFA's 13-strong panel of technical observers, led by UEFA chief technical officer Ioan Lupescu and including Sir Alex Ferguson, Alain Giresse, David Moyes, Packie Bonner, Mixu Paatelainen, Savo Milošević, Peter Rudbæk, Gareth Southgate, Thomas Schaaf, Jean-François Domergue, Ginés Meléndez and Jean-Paul Brigger," the EUFA website said.
Previously, 23 men were chosen for the All-Tournament squad.
"After quite a bit of deliberation, the observers chose a team that features the best performing players from the best performing teams at UEFA EURO 2016," UEFA coaching ambassador Sir Alex Ferguson said. "We have chosen dominant central defenders; full-backs who can defend and attack; deep-lying midfielders who can control the game and dynamic, flexible and creative attackers, all of whom have the ability to create and score goals. We believe that the selected XI represents the best of the competition."
