U.S. Soccer unveils 2016 uniforms

By Alex Butler

NEW YORK, March 18 (UPI) -- The senior United States Men's National soccer team and U-23 team will debut new red, white, and blue threads March 25.

The new home kit features U.S. Soccer's new crest on a white body with blue sleeves. A red stipe also runs vertically on the sides of the top and shorts. Both home and away options were unveiled Thursday in New York.

But it's the new away kit that lends itself to the most creativity. With a sleek black body, one red sleeve, and one blue sleeve, the slick jersey brilliantly compliments the dark shorts. A black stripe runs vertically on the sides of the shirt and shorts, with flashes of blue on one side and red on the other.

"Both kits will introduce a new sock system that includes NikeGRIP socks paired with new sleeves that further protect ankles and other high-risk areas on the lower leg," USSoccer.com says of the kit.

Patriotism is very evident on the kits, which feature "1 Nation" and "1 Team" on the outside cuffs. The inside cuff reads: "We Can, We Will, We Are."
