PHOENIX, Jan. 6 (UPI) -- A keen eye could catch Steve Nash juggling errant basketballs with his feet during play stoppages amid an 18-year NBA career.
But Nash's love of soccer reached its peak Wednesday, as the former NBA most valuable player teamed up with Phoenix Suns owner Robert Sarver and Andy Kohlberg to buy a controlling stake in Real Mallorca. The soccer club competes in the Spanish Segunda Division after being demoted in 2013 from La Liga.
Real Mallorca played in La Liga for 16 seasons before the demotion, but now sits in 18th place in its 22-team division.
Nash, Sarver and Kohlberg bought the share for $21.5 million. Nash will be given a "day-to-day" role with the club, according to Marca.

The company LIGA ACQ LEGACY PARTNERS LLC is formed by a group of experienced NBA owners, Robert Sarver, Andy Kohlberg and Steve Nash, two times NBA MVP."
