Red Wings' Anthony Mantha accidentally hides puck in pants

Nov. 29 (UPI) -- Players were searching for a puck after it disappeared in Anthony Mantha's pants during the Detroit Red Wings' win against the St. Louis Blues.

The puck eventually fell back to the frozen floor during the odd sequence in the first period of the Red Wings' 4-3 win on Wednesday at Little Caesars Arena in Detroit.

Red Wings center Dylan Larkin had the puck on the left flank at the start of the series. He fired a pass to the center of the ice but it was broken up by the Blues' defense.

Blues forward David Perron attempted to clear the puck out of the area and away from the Blues' goal, but he slapped it up Mantha's pants. The Red Wings forward skated behind the goal and the circle on the right before feeling the bump in his gear. The puck fell back on the ice in the corner as the other players were trying to find it in another area.

Blues net minder Jake Allen made a save to end the sequence.

Neither side scored a goal in the first period. The Red Wings caught fire in the second frame, getting three unanswered goals. Thomas Vanek, Andreas Anthanasiou and Tyler Bertuzzi scored the trio for a 3-0 edge.

But Perron and Vladimir Tarasenko ended the bridge frame with two scores for the Blues. Perron tied the game with a goal 8:04 into the third period. Bertuzzi netted the game-winner at 13:07 in the final frame.

The Red Wings face the Boston Bruins at 7 p.m. on Saturday at TD Garden in Boston. The Blues battle the Colorado Avalanche at 9 p.m. on Friday at Pepsi Center in Denver.
