Nov. 22 (UPI) -- Anaheim Ducks captain Ryan Getzlaf slipped the puck between his own legs for a slick goal, helping his squad beat the Vancouver Canucks.

Getzlaf's gorgeous goal came midway through the opening period of the Ducks' 4-3 victory on Wednesday at the Honda Center in Anaheim, Calif.

The Ducks were on the attack before being foiled by the Canucks defense during the sequence. A loose puck squirted out between the circles before Getzlaf came flying in. He caught the puck on his right side, but slid it behind his right heel and through his legs, going toward the left side of the net.

Getzlaf then gathered the puck to his left before flipping it past Canucks net minder Jacob Markstrom with his backhand, lighting the lamp for the first time on the night.

Derrick Pouliot tied the game for the Canucks with a score 4:15 into the second period. Ondrej Kas gave the Ducks another lead three minutes later. Adam Henrique scored his fifth goal of the season for the Ducks 7:09 into the third period before Nikolay Goldobin got the Canucks within a score one minute later.

Kalle Kossila pushed the Ducks' lead back to two goals with another score about three minutes later. Bo Hovrat scored the game's final goal with a tally for the Canucks with less than five minutes remaining.

"I don't think we did everything right, but we definitely did a lot more the way we want to play," Getzlaf told reporters. "We are building. We gotta keep getting better. Now that is a few games in a row that we have put a good effort together. It got a few results. We just gotta continue to build on this."

The Ducks host the Edmonton Oilers at 4 p.m. on Friday in Anaheim.
