Nov. 15 (UPI) -- Washington Capitals left wing Jakub Vrana had a nasty wrist shot for his team's only goal in a 3-1 loss to the Winnipeg Jets.

The score came toward the end of the opening frame. Vrana took control of the puck at the Capitals' blue line. He skated to the right flank and flashed by a defender before dangling the puck from left to right over the Jets' blue line.

He then brought the puck to his backhand and laced a curling shot through the legs of Jets defenseman Joe Morrow and over the stick-side shoulder of net minder Connor Hellebuyck.

The lead didn't last long for the Capitals. Mark Scheifele scored his 10th goal of the season in the second period to tie the score at 1-1. Ben Chiarot and Kyle Connor each scored in the third period to secure the win for Winnipeg.

Washington faces the Colorado Avalanche in its third consecutive road game at 9 p.m. on Friday at Pepsi Center in Denver.

"We have to forget this really quick," Vrana told reporters. "We have to focus on the next game right away. We had back-to-back so we were a little tired. We are going to get our rest and we are going to make sure next game is going to be better and we are going to be prepared for that."

Vrana now has 21 career scores and five goals on the season for the Capitals.
