May 5 (UPI) -- Dan Girardi scored 3:18 into overtime, giving the Tampa Bay Lightning a 3-1 advantage in its Stanley Cup playoff series against the Boston Bruins.
Girardi's score came in the Lightning's 4-3 win against the Bruins Friday at TD Garden in Boston, Mass. Tampa Bay earned a 2-0 lead on the Bruins before Boston stormed back to take the lead.
"We didn't really deviate from the game plan," Girardi told reporters. "We just kept going and going. After the second, all we had to do was win a period to win the game. We ended up tying it up there ... You are going to win in different ways in the playoffs and today was one of those days."
Brayden Point was the first player to light the lamp, beating Tuukka Rask 4:36 into the game. Nikita Kucherov scored 9:53 seconds into the first period, increasing the lead.

David Pastrnak scored his sixth goal of the postseason at the end of the first period, beating Andrei Vasilevskiy and cutting into the Lightning's lead. Patricce Bergeron tied the score 2:04 into the second period. Bergeron gave the Bruins a 3-2 lead 6:36 into the final frame, but Steven Stamkos leveled the score with 7:04 remaining in regulation.
Alex Killorn skated down the right flank during the overtime period. He fired a pass in front of the net, putting it past defenders and Rask. Girardi was able to throw his stick into the puck's path, deflecting it past Rask's stick for the game-winner.
Game 5 of the Eastern Conference series is set for 3 p.m. on Sunday at Amalie Arena in Tampa, Fla.
