Stanley Cup Playoffs: Sharks shut out Golden Knights to even series

May 3 (UPI) -- The San Jose Sharks tied their Stanley Cup playoff series against the Vegas Golden Knights with a 4-0 win in Game 4.

Vegas entered the series undefeated in the 2018 hockey postseason. The Sharks trailed 1-0 in the series before beating the Golden Knights in Game 2. Vegas won 4-3 in Game 3, before Wednesday's bout at SAP Center in San Jose, Calif.

Marcus Sorensen got the scoring started in Game 4. He lit the lamp in 15:37 into the first period, dangling in front of the net, before flipping the puck past Marc-Andre Fleury. Joonas Donskoi added a second goal 4:17 later, giving the Sharks a 2-0 edge entering the second period.

Tomas Hertl gave his team a three-goal advantage 5:35 into the bridge period. Joe Pavelski made the score final, scoring the lone goal of the third period on a power play with 8:17 remaining.

Martin Jones saved 34 shots for the clean sheet.

"It was a good game for everyone. It was probably our most complete game of the series," Jones told reporters.

"When we make them come through us ... 200 feet through all five guys, we are a lot tougher team to play against."

Game 5 of the Western Conference series is at 10 p.m. Friday at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nev.
