Columbus Blue Jackets: Cam Atkinson, Alexander Wennberg out 4-6 weeks

Columbus Blue Jackets forwards Cam Atkinson and Alexander Wennberg are expected to be sidelined four-to-six weeks due to their respective injuries, the team announced Tuesday.

Atkinson sustained a fractured foot after he was struck by a shot from teammate Seth Jones on Saturday while Wennberg injured his back against the Pittsburgh Penguins two days earlier.

The 28-year-old Atkinson is coming off a career season in 2016-17, posting personal bests in goals (35), assists (27), points (62) as well as rating (plus-13). This season has produced a sluggish start for Atkinson, who has just six goals and seven assists in 32 games.

Wennberg, 23, has recorded four goals, 12 assists and eight penalty minutes in 30 games this season.
