The Pittsburgh Penguins placed Justin Schultz on injured reserve and recalled fellow defenseman Frank Corrado from Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the American Hockey League, the team announced Thursday.
Schultz, who must sit out at least the next three games, sustained a lower-body injury during Tuesday's 4-3 loss to the New York Rangers. The 27-year-old has two goals and eight assists in 23 contests this season.
Corrado did not record a point and averaged 11:06 of ice time in three games with Pittsburgh this season. The 24-year-old Toronto native has scored one goal and set up four others with a plus-4 rating in 12 contests with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton.
