Jaromir Jagr: Calgary Flames put forward on injured reserve

The Calgary Flames placed forward Jaromir Jagr on injured reserve with a lower-body injury, the team announced Monday.

In a corresponding move, the Flames recalled forward Mark Jankowski from the Stockton Heat of the American Hockey League.

The 45-year-old Jagr left Saturday night's 4-2 loss to the Minnesota Wild in the first period and did not return to the game. He broke his stick attempting a shot on goal before skating to the bench and going to the dressing room. He will have to miss at least seven days.

Jagr has two assists in five games since signing as a free agent with Calgary at the end of training camp. The Flames are Jagr's ninth NHL team.

Jagr is 51 games away from becoming the NHL's all-time leader in games played, currently held by Gordie Howe with 1,767. Jagr is second in career points behind Wayne Gretzky (2,857) with 1,916, including 765 goals.

Jankowski, a 23-year-old center, has played in six games with Stockton this season, recording a team-leading five goals and totaling eight points.

In 64 games with the AHL affiliate in his rookie pro season in 2016-17, Jankowski notched 56 points (27 goals, 29 assists). He made his NHL debut last season with Calgary, playing in one game.
