Jaromir Jagr makes Calgary Flames debut

Jaromir Jagr will make his debut with the Calgary Flames on Wednesday night against the Los Angeles Kings at Staples Center.

Flames coach Glen Gulutzan said Jagr will play right wing on the third line with center Sam Bennett and left wing Kris Versteeg.

The 45-year-old Jagr, who signed a one-year, $1 million contract on Oct. 3, sat out the Flames' first three games to work on his conditioning.

Jagr recorded 16 goals and 30 assists while playing in all 82 regular-season games last season with the Florida Panthers, but the sides failed to come to terms on a new deal and parted ways on July 1.

The five-time Art Ross Trophy winner and 1998-99 Hart Trophy recipient has collected 765 goals and 1,149 assists for 1,914 points. His goal total is eclipsed only by Wayne Gretzky (894) and Gordie Howe (801) while his point total (1,914) is second only to "The Great One" (2,857).

Jagr has been selected for the NHL All-Star Game 13 times and voted to the NHL First All-Star Team on seven occasions. He has played for the Pittsburgh Penguins, New York Rangers, New Jersey Devils, Boston Bruins, Philadelphia Flyers, Washington Capitals, Dallas Stars and Panthers during his decorated career.
