NHL: Winnipeg Jets sign goalie Connor Hellebuyck to one-year, $2.25M deal

The Winnipeg Jets agreed to terms with goaltender Connor Hellebuyck on a one-year, $2.25 million contract Monday to avoid salary arbitration.

The two sides were scheduled to have an arbitration hearing on Aug. 1.

Hellebuyck, 24, appeared in a career-high 56 games for the Jets last season, recording a 26-19-4 record with a 2.89 goals-against average, .907 save percentage and four shutouts. He played the most games of any goaltender age 23 and younger in the NHL last season.

The native of Commerce, Mich., owns a career 39-30-5 record with a 2.71 goals-against average and .910 save percentage in 82 NHL games over two seasons.

The 6-foot-4, 207-pound Hellebuyck was selected by the Jets in the fifth round of the 2012 NHL draft.
