NEW YORK -- Erik Karlsson and Mark Stone each had a goal and an assist as the Ottawa Senators advanced to the Eastern Conference finals for the first time since 2007 with a 4-2 victory against the New York Rangers on Tuesday night at Madison Square Garden.
The Senators won the best-of-seven series 4-2.
Mike Hoffman also scored for the Senators, who will meet the Washington Capitals or Pittsburgh Penguins in the Eastern Conference finals. Jean-Gabriel Pageau scored his sixth goal of the series into an empty net with 6.2 seconds remaining.
Goaltender Craig Anderson made 37 saves for his eighth win of the playoffs.

Mika Zibanejad and Chris Kreider scored for the Rangers, who got 22 saves from Henrik Lundqvist.
Kreider converted on a breakaway 53 seconds into the third period to cut Ottawa's lead to 3-2. He got around defenseman Cody Ceci and snapped the puck past Anderson's blocker side.
Karlsson was the catalyst on Hoffman's goal that gave the Senators a 1-0 lead at 4:27 of the first period. Karlsson shoveled the puck along the ice and toward the net, which allowed Hoffman to redirect the shot into the top corner.
Stone extended the lead to 2-0 at 14:44 when he whipped a wrist shot during an odd-man rush that crept past Lundqvist's right shoulder.
The Rangers had three power plays during the first period and failed to convert.
Zibanejad pulled the Rangers to within 2-1 at 13:32 of the second period. He slipped behind the Ottawa defense for a breakaway and fired a shot over Anderson's catching glove for his first goal of the series.
Karlsson restored the two-goal lead 2:21 later. Bobby Ryan teed up Karlsson, who beat Lundqvist from down low for his second goal of the playoffs.
NOTES: The Senators used the same lineup in Game 6 as they did in Game 5, which included RW Chris Neil. He had zero shots in 1:49 of ice time. ...
