Montreal Canadiens 3, Ottawa Senators 1

MONTREAL -- Andrei Markov scored two goals to lift the Montreal Canadiens to a 3-1 victory over the Ottawa Senators on Saturday night at the Bell Centre.

Shea Weber also scored for Montreal, which moved three points ahead of Ottawa atop the Atlantic Division. Carey Price made 31 saves for the Canadiens.

Jean-Gabriel Pageau scored for Ottawa. Craig Anderson, playing in his 500th NHL game, stopped 21 shots for the Senators.

Markov made it 2-0 just 1:13 into the second period. Max Pacioretty, along the right boards, sent a perfect cross-ice dish to the veteran blue-liner, who showed patience coming in from the point before firing from the top of the left circle.

Boston Bruins 2, New York Islanders 1

NEW YORK -- Riley Nash scored both goals as Boston moved into sole possession of the second wild card in the Eastern Conference by snapping a four-game losing streak.

The Bruins broke a tie with New York for the final wild card, but the Islanders have a game in hand on Boston. Anton Khudobin, playing in place of injured starter Tuukka Rask, recorded 18 saves.

John Tavares scored while Thomas Greiss made 16 saves for New York. Tavares nearly tied the game on a power play late in the third, but his shot bounced off the crossbar.

Florida Panthers 7, Chicago Blackhawks 0

SUNRISE, Fla. -- Jonathan Marchessault scored a natural hat trick as Florida routed Chicago.

Marchessault, who scored twice in his previous game, has a team-high 28 goals this season. James Reimer (25 saves) picked up his first shutout of the season.

Jonathan Huberdeau had a goal and three assists, Aleksander Barkov recorded a goal and two assists, and Nick Bjugstad and Reilly Smith also scored. Corey Crawford (21 saves) was chased after the fourth goal.

Nashville Predators 7, San Jose Sharks 2

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Colton Sissons and James Neal each scored twice as Nashville won for the sixth time in last seven games.

Cody McLeod, P.K. Subban and Viktor Arvidsson also scored for the Predators, who moved one point ahead of St. Louis for third place in the Central Division. Pekka Rinne, who was honored prior to the game for playing his 500th NHL contest last week, stopped 26 shots for his fifth straight victory.

Patrick Marleau and Justin Braun scored for San Jose, which lost its sixth straight game -- all in regulation by a combined 23-7 margin. Martin Jones made 27 saves for the Sharks.

Calgary Flames 3, St. Louis Blues 2 (OT)

ST. LOUIS - Sean Monahan scored with three seconds left in overtime to lift Calgary.

The win snapped a two-game losing streak for the Flames and ended a four-game winning streak for St. Louis.

Calgary tied it 2-2 on the first goal of the season by Matt Bartkowski, whose shot on a delayed penalty deflected off the skate of the Blues' Jay Bouwmeester and into the net at 10:53 of the third period.

Washington Capitals 4, Arizona Coyotes 1

WASHINGTON -- Daniel Winnik scored twice, including the go-ahead goal with 4:39 left, and Alex Ovechkin produced his 30th of the season as Washington defeated Arizona.

The Capitals won their fourth straight game and lead Pittsburgh and Columbus by three points in the Metropolitan Division. The Capitals play six of their final eight games on the road and begin a five-game road trip Tuesday at Minnesota.

Ovechkin, who scored a power-play goal in the first period, joined Mike Gartner (15 seasons) and Wayne Gretzky (13) as the only players in NHL history to score at least 30 goals in each of their first 12 seasons.

Edmonton Oilers 4, Colorado Avalanche 1

EDMONTON, Alberta -- Laurent Brossoit made 23 saves as Edmonton beat last-place Colorado for the second time in three days.

Brossoit also won Thursday's 7-4 decision in relief of Cam Talbot and increased his career win total to three. The Oilers pulled even with the Anaheim Ducks and San Jose Sharks atop the Pacific Division.

Drake Caggiula and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins recorded power-play goals in the third period for Edmonton. The Oilers' Leon Draisaitl also scored to extend his point streak to seven games.

Columbus Blue Jackets 1, Philadelphia Flyers 0

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Alexander Wennberg scored in the second period and Sergei Bobrovsky posted his seventh shutout of the season as Columbus ended a two-game losing streak.

The Blue Jackets are the only team in the NHL this season that avoided a skid longer than two games. Bobrovsky made 36 saves in posting his NHL-leading 40th victory of the season and is 9-0-2 in his last 11 contests.

Philadelphia was desperate for a win to keep its fading playoff hopes alive in the Eastern Conference but lost for the 10th consecutive time in Columbus.

New York Rangers 3, Los Angeles Kings 0

LOS ANGELES -- Derek Stepan and Ryan McDonagh scored the first two goals, and Antti Raanta made 30 saves as New York handed Los Angeles its 10th shutout of the season.

The Rangers snapped a two-game slide and swept the home-and-home season series. They extended their league-leading road record to 27-9-1.

The Kings lost for the fifth time in their last seven games. They trail the St. Louis Blues by nine points with eight games remaining for the second wild-card spot in the Western Conference. Jonathan Quick stopped 17 New York shots.

Buffalo Sabres 5, Toronto Maple Leafs 2

BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Jack Eichel had two goals and an assist to lead Buffalo over Toronto.

Ryan O'Reilly, Evander Kane and Dmitry Kulikov also scored for the Sabres while Robin Lehner made 32 saves. Connor Brown and Auston Matthews scored for the Maple Leafs, who had a three-game winning streak end.

Curtis McElhinney made 19 saves for Toronto after replacing Frederik Andersen in net. Andersen did not return to start the second period after suffering an upper-body injury. He made 14 saves in the first period.

Vancouver Canucks 4, Minnesota Wild 2

SAINT PAUL, Minn. -- Reid Boucher scored twice and Brock Boeser recorded his first NHL goal in his pro debut as part of a four-goal second period as Vancouver defeated Minnesota.

Backup goaltender Richard Bachman made 25 saves in limiting the Wild to a pair of late third-period goals by Ryan Suter and Eric Staal. The Canucks defeated Minnesota and Chicago on the road this week, scoring a combined nine goals.

The Wild are 2-9-0 in their last 11 games and stumbling toward the postseason having not won back-to-back games since Feb. 27-28. Darcy Kuemper made 17 saves for Minnesota.

Carolina Hurricanes 3, New Jersey Devils 1

NEWARK, N.J. -- Jeff Skinner continued his recent goal-scoring splurge as Carolina kept its faint playoff hopes alive.

The score extended Skinner's goal-scoring streak to five games and point streak to six (seven goals, two assists). This is the third time Skinner reached the 30-goal plateau in his career.

Eddie Lack made 26 saves for the Hurricanes, who remain five points out of the second wild card in the Eastern Conference with nine games left. Sebastian Aho scored twice for Carolina.
