Minnesota Wild 5, Los Angeles Kings 4
SAINT PAUL, Minn. -- Mikael Granlund scored just 12 seconds into overtime as the Minnesota Wild emerged from their bye week on the right note, beating the Los Angeles Kings 5-4 on Monday.
Granlund split a pair of Kings defenders, then scored on a pretty stickhandling play for Minnesota's only lead of the game.
Newly acquired forward Ryan White had a goal and an assist in his Wild debut as Minnesota (40-14-6) won for the third time in four games. Goalie Devan Dubnyk had 26 saves for the Wild, who also got goals from Jason Zucker, Nino Niederreiter and Jordan Schroeder.
Montreal Canadiens 4, New Jersey Devils 3 (OT)
NEWARK, N.J. -- The captain came to the rescue and, thus, Montreal rallied for a thrilling overtime victory over New Jersey at the Prudential Center.
Montreal captain Max Pacorietty scored twice in the third period, including the game-tying tally with 53 seconds left in regulation. Alex Galchenyuk's power-play goal 2:54 into the extra session served as the winner for the Canadiens.
It was the second straight game in which the Devils let a third-period lead evaporate into an overtime loss on home ice. New Jersey saw the same scenario in a 4-3 defeat Saturday against the New York Rangers.
Tampa Bay Lightning 5, Ottawa Senators 1
TAMPA, Fla. -- Tampa Bay refused to play like a team packing it in despite seeing two key players moved out before the trade deadline.
In a playoff-intense showing, the Lightning ran roughshod over Ottawa at Amalie Arena despite seeing Ben Bishop and Brian Boyle traded away in a 24-hour span.
Nikita Kucherov recorded his second career hat trick while notching his fourth four-point game of the season and second in the past three games. Jonathan Drouin picked up three assists as Tampa Bay improved to 6-1-2 in the past nine games.
