Pittsburgh Penguins 4, Winnipeg Jets 3

PITTSBURGH -- Center Sidney Crosby recorded his 1,000th career point early and scored the winner late in the Pittsburgh Penguins' 4-3 overtime win against the Winnipeg Jets at PPG Paints Arena on Thursday.

Crosby's winner came with just 21.1 seconds left in the extra session after Evgeni Malkin drove to the net and powered the puck in front with a defenseman on top of him. Crosby beat a defender to the puck and tapped it into an empty net.

Malkin, Chris Kunitz and Phil Kessel also scored for the Penguins while Patrik Laine, Paul Postma and Dustin Byfuglien scored for the Jets.

Edmonton Oilers 6, Philadelphia Flyers 3

EDMONTON, Alberta -- Connor McDavid reclaimed the NHL scoring lead with 66 points after a three-point night -- a goal and two assists -- as Edmonton won its grudge match with Philadelphia.

The Oilers won their second game in a row and put the team's feud with Brandon Manning to rest after Edmonton's Patrick Maroon fought the Flyers defenseman. When McDavid faced the Flyers in Edmonton last season, he broke his clavicle after he and Manning got tangled up.

But their war of words erupted when the Oilers lost in Philadelphia on Dec. 8. McDavid claimed that in December, Manning bragged on the ice about intentionally injuring the Oilers star. Manning denied the claim, and chided McDavid for breaking the unwritten rule that says players don't tell the media about what is said on the ice.

Ottawa Senators 3, New Jersey Devils 0

NEWARK, N.J. -- Dion Phaneuf's power-play goal with 1:59 remaining in the second period was the only offense Mike Condon needed as Ottawa defeated New Jersey at Prudential Center.

Erik Karlsson and Kyle Turris also scored for the Senators.

Condon stopped all 21 shots he faced and Cory Schneider made 32 saves for the Devils.

New York Islanders 4, New York Rangers 2

NEW YORK -- John Tavares set up Nikolay Kulemin for the winning short-handed goal 3:03 into the third period as the Islanders continued their recent success over the Rangers.

Andrew Ladd scored two goals and Anders Lee one for the Islanders

Nick Holden and rookie Jimmy Vesey scored for the Rangers, who had a season-high six-game winning streak stopped.

St. Louis Blues 4, Vancouver Canucks 3

ST. LOUIS -- Vladimir Tarasenko scored a power-play goal 58 seconds into the third period to break a tie and send St. Louis over Vancouver for their season-high sixth consecutive victory.

The win raised the Blues' record to 7-1 since Mike Yeo replaced Ken Hitchcock on Feb. 1. It's the best record for a St. Louis coach in his first eight games in franchise history.

Alexander Steen, Magnus Paajarvi and Jori Lehtera also scored for the Blues.

Brandon Sutter and Bo Horvat -- both back from injury -- and Henrik Sedin scored for the Canucks.

Minnesota Wild 3, Dallas Stars 1

ST. PAUL, Minn. -- Darcy Kuemper made 34 saves, and Erik Haula had a goal and assist as Minnesota beat Dallas.

Ryan Suter and Jared Spurgeon also scored, and Mikko Koivu had two assists for the Wild, who won five of their past six games.

Cody Eakin scored his second goal of the season and Kari Lehtonen made 23 saves for the Stars, who lost seven of their past eight games and slipped to the third-worst points total in the NHL.

Arizona Coyotes 5, Los Angeles Kings 3

LOS ANGELES -- Brendan Perlini and Jordan Martinook scored two goals apiece as Arizona stopped Los Angeles.

The Kings were coming off their league-mandated week off and with the loss, NHL teams are 3-9-1 when returning from their break, getting outscored 38-12 in the 10 losses.

The Coyotes took a 2-0 lead into the third period and Arizona goaltender Mike Smith appeared on his way to breaking the franchise record for shutouts, but the teams combined for three goals in a 2:29 stretch to tighten up the game and bring the crowd to life.

Buffalo Sabres 2, Colorado Avalanche 0

BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Robin Lehner made 23 saves to lead Buffalo over Colorado.

Sam Reinhart and Evander Kane scored for the Sabres, who picked up back-to-back wins for the first time this month.

It was Lehner's second shutout of the season and fifth of his career. Calvin Pickard made 30 saves for the Avalanche.
