Jack Eichel and Rasmus Ristolainen scored for the Sabres. Robin Lehner made 39 saves.
Washington Capitals 6, Detroit Red Wings 3
WASHINGTON -- John Carlson scored the winning goal early in the third period and Washington held off a challenge from Detroit to pick up its 11th straight home win.
Andreas Athanasiou scored two goals and Henrik Zetterberg once for the Red Wings.
New York Rangers 4, Nashville Predators 3
NEW YORK -- Chris Kreider's 22nd goal early in the third period put New York ahead for good in a victory against Nashville at Madison Square Garden.
Cody McLeod, Calle Jankrok and Roman Josi scored for the Predators.
New York Islanders 3, Philadelphia Flyers 1
Wayne Simmonds scored the only goal for the Flyers, who have been outscored 30-3 in their last six losses.
Greiss, who signed a three-year contract extension last month, has gone 7-1-1 in his last nine decisions and is now 17-8-3. Flyers goaltender Steve Mason (30 saves) fell to 16-17-6 and has lost 10 of his last 12 decisions.
Vancouver Canucks 3, Columbus Blue Jackets 0
The Canucks posted their first road shutout of the season. The Blue Jackets fell in the opener of a seven-game homestand.
Columbus goalie Sergei Bobrovsky stopped 21 of the 24 shots he faced.
Boston Bruins 6, San Jose Sharks 3
Playing in front of a sparse crowd because of a blizzard, Boston got a goal from David Backes at 52 seconds and never trailed in a win vs. San Jose.
Patrice Bergeron had a goal and three assists and David Pastrnak scored two goals, giving him eight points in the last three games as the Bruins ended a two-game losing streak and handed the Sharks a second straight loss on their four-game road trip.
Los Angeles Kings 6, Florida Panthers 3
SUNRISE, Fla. -- Jeff Carter scored his 28th and 29th goals of the season and added two assists to lead Los Angeles over Florida at the BB&T Center.
Dustin Brown, Tanner Pearson, Tyler Toffoli and Dwight King also scored for the Kings.
The Panthers got goals by Jonathan Marchessault, Jussi Jokinen and Aleksander Barkov.
St. Louis Blues 2, Toronto Maple Leafs 1 (OT)
TORONTO -- Vladimir Tarasenko scored 20 seconds into overtime, and St. Louis defeated Toronto.
It was the 26th goal of the season for Tarasenko. Patrik Berglund also scored for the Blues, who have won three games in a row. Morgan Rielly scored for the Maple Leafs.
Ottawa Senators 3, Dallas Stars 2
OTTAWA -- Ottawa put itself back on track with a win over Dallas at Canadian Tire Centre.
The Senators had lost their previous two games by a combined count of 10-0. Mark Stone, Dion Phaneuf and Chris Kelly were the Senators' goal scorers. Jamie Benn and Antoine Roussel replied for the Stars.
Senators goalie Mike Condon returned to the net after a one-game break to make 31 saves for the victory. Kari Lehtonen stopped 16 shots between the Dallas pipes.
Montreal Canadiens 5, Arizona Coyotes 4 (OT)
GLENDALE, Ariz. -- Max Pacioretty had two goals and two assists, Andrei Markov and Alex Radulov each scored and Alex Galchenyuk buried a wrist shot from the slot in overtime to lift Montreal over Arizona.
Carey Price made 20 saves for the Canadiens, who snapped a four-game losing streak to maintain an eight-point lead Ottawa for the Atlantic Division lead.
Pittsburgh Penguins 4, Colorado Avalanche 1
Gabriel Landeskog had a goal and Calvin Pickard stopped 26 shots for the Avalanche.
