Washington Capitals 5, Carolina Hurricanes 0

WASHINGTON -- Braden Holtby picked up his seventh shutout of the season, five different players scored and the Washington Capitals defeated the Carolina Hurricanes 5-0 on Tuesday night for their 10th straight home win.

Holtby, 12-0-0 in his last 14 games with four shutouts, stopped 23 shots in picking up his 30th career shutout.

Alex Ovechkin, Brett Connolly and Marcus Johansson each had a goal and an assist for Washington. Lars Eller and Evgeny Kuznetsov also had goals, and Matt Niskanen added two assists.

Buffalo Sabres 5, San Jose Sharks 4 (OT)

BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Evander Kane scored 1:05 into overtime to lead Buffalo over San Jose.

Matt Moulson, Ryan O'Reilly and Kyle Okposo also scored for the Sabres. Anders Nilsson made 36 saves.

Joel Ward, Logan Couture, Melker Karlsson and Joe Pavelski scored for the Sharks. Martin Jones had 31 saves.

New York Rangers 4, Anaheim Ducks 1

NEW YORK -- Henrik Lundqvist stopped 43 shots as New York defeated Anaheim at Madison Square Garden.

All Lundqvist would allow was a second-period goal by Ducks forward Jakob Silfverberg.

Oscar Lindberg and Mats Zuccarello scored in the first and second period, respectively, and Michael Grabner's 24th goal early in the third period proving the Rangers with breathing room and his 25th into an empty net with 18.5 seconds remaining sealed the win. Rangers defenseman Brady Skjei had two assists.

Calgary Flames 3, Pittsburgh Penguins 2 (SO)

PITTSBURGH -- Kris Versteeg scored the only goal of the shootout as Calgary pushed past Pittsburgh at PPG Paints Arena.

Chad Johnson made 31 saves and Michael Frolik and Micheal Ferland scored for the Flames in regulation.

Chris Kunitz and Jake Guentzel scored for the Penguins.

Tampa Bay Lightning 5, Los Angeles Kings 0

TAMPA, Fla. -- Two goals from Nikita Kucherov and superb goaltending from Ben Bishop led Tampa Bay over Los Angeles at Amalie Arena.

Braydon Coburn, Jonathan Drouin and Gabriel Dumont also scored for the Lightning.

Toronto Maple Leafs 3, Dallas Stars 1

TORONTO -- Jake Gardiner scored a goal and added an assist, Curtis McElhinney made 39 saves, and Toronto defeated Dallas.

Auston Matthews and Nikita Zaitsev also scored for the Maple Leafs.

Tyler Seguin scored for the Stars, who lost their third game in a row.

Columbus Blue Jackets 3, Detroit Red Wings 2 (OT)

DETROIT -- Seth Jones fired a high slap shot past Petr Mrazek at 3:22 of overtime to give Columbus a victory over Detroit.

Dylan Larkin and Thomas Vanek scored for the Red Wings while Brandon Dubinsky and Cam Atkinson had the regulation goals for the Blue Jackets.

St. Louis Blues 6, Ottawa Senators 0

OTTAWA -- St. Louis Blues posted its second shutout in 24 hours by blanking Ottawa at Canadian Tire Centre.

Jake Allen made 30 saves for his second goose egg of the season and 13th of his career.

Vladimir Tarasenko led the way for the Blues with two goals, while Ivan Barbashev, Alex Steen, Patrik Berglund and Magnus Paajarvi scored the others.

The Blues defeated the Philadelphia Flyers 2-0 on Monday.

Minnesota Wild 4, Winnipeg Jets 2

WINNIPEG, Manitoba -- Minnesota solidified its hold on top of the Western Division with a victory over Winnipeg.

Jason Pominville and Nino Niederreiter had two goals each for the Wild.

Bryan Little and Joel Armia scored for the Jets.

Nashville Predators 4, Vancouver Canucks 2

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Filip Forsberg's power-play slap shot at 9:04 of the third period was ruled a goal after a lengthy review, the key tally in Nashville's win over Vancouver at Bridgestone Arena.

Pekka Rinne made 31 saves and Mike Fisher, Viktor Arvidsson and Calle Jarnkrok also scored for the Predators.

Alexander Edler and Vernon Fiddler scored for the Canucks.

Colorado Avalanche 4, Montreal Canadiens 0

DENVER -- Mikko Rantanen recorded the first hat trick of his career, Calvin Pickard made 27 saves for his second shutout of the season and Colorado defeated Montreal.

Andres Martinsen also scored and Mark Barberio had two assists for the Avalanche. Nathan MacKinnon and Gabriel Landeskog added two assists apiece for the Avalanche, who won consecutive games for the first time since Nov. 19-21 and won two straight at home for the first time all season.

Carey Price recorded 22 saves for the Canadiens, who lost their four straight.
