Jaguars hire Packers' Anthony Campanile as defensive coordinator

Jan. 31 (UPI) -- The Jacksonville Jaguars hired former Green Bay Packers linebackers coach/run game coordinator Anthony Campanile as their new defensive coordinator.

The Jaguars announced the hire Thursday night. Campanile, 42, was the Miami Dolphins' linebackers coach from 2020 to 2023. He was linebackers coach at Michigan in 2019. He also held defensive coaching roles at Boston College and Rutgers.

Campanile worked under Packers defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley in 2024. The Packers allowed the fifth-fewest yards and sixth-fewest points in the NFL. They surrendered the seventh-fewest rushing yards and 13th-fewest passing yards in 2024-25.

The Jaguars announced the hire of new head coach Liam Coen on Jan. 24.

They also interviewed Las Vegas Raiders defensive coordinator Patrick Graham, Minnesota Vikings pass game coordinator/defensive backs coach Daronte Jones and Los Angeles Rams pass game coordinator/defensive backs coach Aubrey Pleasant for their defensive coordinator vacancy.

They are still searching for a new offensive coordinator.

The Jaguars, who went 4-13 last season, totaled the eighth-fewest yards on offense while allowing the second-most on defense in 2024-25.
