Bengals sign QB Reid Sinnett to practice squad; Joe Burrow's status iffy

Sept. 22 (UPI) -- The Cincinnati Bengals signed quarterback Reid Sinnett to their practice squad, the team announced Friday afternoon. The signing came amid uncertainty about starting quarterback Joe Burrow's status for Week 3.

The Bengals will host the Los Angeles Rams on Monday in Cincinnati. Burrow, who aggravated a calf injury in the Bengals' Week 2 loss to the Baltimore Ravens, did not practice Thursday.

Burrow was seen jogging with teammates and throwing at Friday's practice. The Bengals will practice again Saturday.

"You have to practice one day," Burrow told reporters Thursday in Cincinnati. "Maybe not full, but you've got to be running around throwing the ball.

"You just have to feel confident in your ability to go out and do the job. I don't know yet. We'll see. We'll see how we feel the next couple of days. I don't really have an answer for you there."

Jake Browning in the No. 2 quarterback on the Bengals depth chart and would likely start against the Rams if Burrow is inactive. Sinnett most likely would be the No. 2 quarterback in Week 3 if the Bengals' starter is ruled out.

"Soreness is an issue right now," Taylor said, when asked about Burrow. "So giving him some time is best. I think we just gotta keep the conversation going every day and see where he's at."

Burrow told reporters that the Bengals' 0-2 record is on his mind when asked about possibly playing through the injury.

The Bengals and Rams will kick off at 8:15 p.m. EDT Monday in Cincinnati.
