May 16 (UPI) -- The Green Bay Packers and Pro Bowl cornerback Jaire Alexander agreed to a four-year, $84 million contract extension, a source close to the league told UPI on Monday.

The deal, which includes a $30 million signing bonus, will keep the defensive back under contract with the NFC North franchise through 2026. Alexander, 25, joined the Packers as the No. 18 overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft.

Alexander was entering the final year of his rookie contract. He was rated the top outside cornerback by Pro Football Focus entering the 2021 campaign, but was limited to five games last season due to a shoulder injury.

The 5-foot-10, 196-pound defender totaled 13 tackles, three passes defensed and an interception in 2021. The Packers defense allowed the 10th-fewest passing yards and nine-fewest yards overall last season. They allowed the seventh-fewest passing yards in 2020.

Packers rookies participated in their minicamp on May 6 and 7. More Packers players will report for the first session of organized team activities May 24-26. Packers mandatory minicamp will run from June 13 to 15.

The Packers will face the Minnesota Vikings in their first regular-season game at 4:25 p.m. EDT Sept. 11 in Minneapolis.
