Three Cowboys strength and conditioning coaches also were placed in the COVID-19 protocol.

Steele started the last 10 games for the Cowboys. He started seven games at right tackle and three games at left tackle.

La'el Collins is expected to start this week at right tackle in place of Steele.

Cowboys wide receiver Amari Cooper tested positive for COVID-19 two weeks ago and missed the team's last two games, but is expected to return to the team Monday.

The Cowboys face the Saints at 8:20 p.m. EST Thursday at Caesars Superdome in New Orleans.
