Oct. 5 (UPI) -- The Kansas City Chiefs promoted former All-Pro wide receiver Josh Gordon from their practice squad to the 53-man roster, the team announced Tuesday. The roster move indicates that Gordon is likely to play against the Buffalo Bills on Sunday at Arrowhead Stadium.

Last week, the Chiefs signed the 30-year-old Gordon, who hasn't played in the NFL since 2019. He was suspended indefinitely by the NFL in December 2019 for violating the league's policies on substance abuse and performance-enhancing substances.
Gordon submitted his reinstatement letter to NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell in July, and the NFL Players Association recommended that Goodell reinstate Gordon. Gordon's application for reinstatement was approved last week.
The 2013 Pro Bowl selection led the league in receiving yards in 2013, when he played for the Cleveland Browns and amassed 1,646 yards. He later spent time with the New England Patriots and Seattle Seahawks.
"Everywhere he's been, he's kind of dominated," Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes said. "So I mean, it's definitely exciting."
The Chiefs have been searching for a No. 2 wide receiver alongside Tyreek Hill since losing Sammy Watkins to free agency earlier this year. Kansas City has given significant playing time to Mecole Hardman, Demarcus Robinson and Byron Pringle, but none of those players have consistently delivered for the team.
The Chiefs placed defensive end Joshua Kaindoh on injured reserve in a corresponding roster move.
