Sept. 10 (UPI) -- Backup running back Nyheim Hines and the Indianapolis Colts reached an agreement on a multiyear contract extension Friday that will tie the pass-catching back to the organization through 2024.

League sources told ESPN, NFL Media and the Indianapolis Star that Hines agreed to a three-year, $18.6 million extension with the Colts. According to the outlets, the agreement includes $12 million in guaranteed money.

The pact has an average annual value of $6.2 million, making Hines one of the league's top 10 highest-paid tailbacks. He is set to earn the most money per season for a non-lead back.

The Colts selected Hines in the fourth round of the 2018 draft out of North Carolina State University. Over his first three NFL seasons, Hines has notched 170 receptions -- sixth most among all running backs during that span.

Hines also has an average of 14.9 yards per punt return that ranks first since the 2018 season.

The 24-year-old Hines is the third member of the Colts' 2018 draft class to receive a contract extension this year, joining star linebacker Darius Leonard and starting offensive tackle Braden Smith.
