Aug. 26 (UPI) -- The Tennessee Titans placed starting quarterback Ryan Tannehill and two other players on the reserve/COVID-19 list, the team announced Thursday.

With his placement on the list, Tannehill -- who is vaccinated -- will be sidelined five to 10 days depending on how quickly the quarterback can register two negative tests over a 48-hour period. The Titans open their regular season against the Arizona Cardinals on Sept. 12.

The Titans also put tight end Geoff Swaim and linebacker Justin March-Lillard on the COVID-19 list Thursday, bringing the team's number of players on the list to seven. The other Titans players on the list are defensive lineman Anthony Rush, running back Jeremy McNichols and linebackers Harold Landry and Nick Dzubnar.

League sources told ESPN and NFL Media that all of those players were placed on the COVID-19 list due to positive test results.

Earlier this week, Titans head coach Mike Vrabel tested positive for COVID-19. Vrabel said Thursday that special teams coordinator Craig Aukerman also is in the league's COVID-19 protocol, meaning at least nine players and coaches within the team are dealing with the virus.

"We've followed the protocols," Titans general manager Jon Robinson told reporters. "Our medical team has done an outstanding job with talking to the league and the players, coaches."

Robinson noted that the Titans -- who were in Tampa, Fla., last week for joint practices with the Buccaneers -- are about 97% or 98% vaccinated.
