March 11 (UPI) -- The Houston Texans on Thursday agreed to terms with former Baltimore Ravens running back Mark Ingram II on a short-term contract.

League sources told ESPN and NFL Media that Ingram is signing a one-year deal worth up to $3 million with the Texans. The team has yet to confirm the agreement, which is pending a physical.

Ingram will join a Texans backfield led by starter and Pro Bowler David Johnson, who recently agreed to a restructured contract to remain with the franchise. Houston released pass-catching tailback Duke Johnson earlier this off-season.

The 31-year-old Ingram was phased out of the Ravens' offensive game plan as the 2020 regular season went on. He finished with a career-low 72 carries this past season, with rookie J.K. Dobbins and Gus Edwards leading the way in Baltimore's backfield.

Ingram, who was a healthy scratch for four of the Ravens' final five games of the 2020 season, including both postseason games, was released by the team in January.

The New Orleans Saints selected Ingram in the first round of the 2011 draft out of Alabama. He spent his first eight NFL seasons in New Orleans (2011-18) and was named to the Pro Bowl in 2014 and 2017.

Ingram signed a three-year, $15 million deal with the Ravens in 2019. He recorded 1,018 yards and 10 touchdowns in his first season in Baltimore and was selected to the Pro Bowl for the third time.

In 132 career games with the Saints and Ravens, Ingram has notched 7,324 yards and 62 touchdowns on the ground.
