Dec. 4 (UPI) -- All-Pro NFL stars DeAndre Hopkins and Stephon Gilmore exchanged trash talk on Twitter following the Houston Texans' win against the New England Patriots.

The exchange occurred Tuesday, following the Texans' victory over the favored Patriots Sunday in Houston. Hopkins had five catches for 64 yards in the win. He also threw a touchdown pass to Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson. Watson carved up the Patriots defense with 234 passing yards and three passing scores.

Hopkins tweeted a photo Tuesday showing himself running with the ball while stepping over Gilmore. He also posted additional photos of the exchange on Instagram.

"'When you see 10, double him,'" Hopkins wrote for the caption, referencing his own jersey number. The caption was a slight to Gilmore, as Hopkins was inferring that the Patriots' star cornerback couldn't defend him by himself.

Gilmore responded to the slight about an hour later, writing: "Bro was doubled on only two snaps all game and wants to be loud."

Several players responded to Hopkins' photo on Instagram, including many of Hopkins' Texans teammates. Green Bay Packers star Davante Adams wrote "mandated." Los Angeles Rams cornerback Jalen Ramsey commented with an emoji of eyes and said "sheesh."

The Texans host the Denver Broncos at 1 p.m. EST Sunday in Houston. The Patriots host the Kansas City Chiefs at 4:25 p.m. Sunday in Foxborough, Mass.
