Texans WR Will Fuller makes incredible leaping catch against Saints

Sept. 10 (UPI) -- Houston Texans wide receiver Will Fuller provided one of the best catches of the young NFL season with a leaping grab against the New Orleans Saints on Monday Night Football.

Fuller took flight in the final minutes of the first quarter during the 30-28 loss Monday in New Orleans. The Texans began their final drive of the quarter with a 1st-and-10 on their own 6 yard line. Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson took the snap on the play and faked a handoff before backpedaling into the end zone. He briefly scanned the field before launching a pass down the left flank.

Watson's pass floated nearly 60 yards through the air before nearing Fuller. The Texans wide receiver turned his body and jumped, despite being closely guarded by Saints cornerback Eli Apple. Fuller elevated over Apple and reached his hands behind Apple's helmet to catch the ball. He landed at the New Orleans 40 yard line for a first down.

The Texans went on to score on the drive with Watson running for a 21-yard touchdown. The score gave Houston a 7-0 advantage.

Fuller had 69 yards on two receptions in the loss. Texans All-Pro DeAndre Hopkins had 111 yards and two touchdowns on eight grabs for the Texans. Saints star Michael Thomas had a game-high 123 yards on 10 catches.

"[Kenny Stills] made some plays. 'Hop' made some plays. Will made some plays. We just have to make more," Texans coach Bill O'Brien said.

Fuller had 503 yards and four touchdowns in seven starts last season. He saw limited action in 2018 due to a torn ACL. The No. 21 overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft has missed multiple games in each of his previous three NFL seasons due to injuries. Fuller had a career-high seven touchdowns in 10 starts in 2017. He had a career-best 635 yards in 14 games during his rookie campaign.
