Sept. 5 (UPI) -- Los Angeles Rams star running back Todd Gurley won't play on a limited snap count Sunday against the Carolina Panthers.

"Nope," Rams head coach Sean McVay told reporters Thursday when asked if Gurley would be on a pitch count.

Gurley, who was placed on a strict training schedule in camp, didn't participate in any preseason games this season. The All-Pro tailback practiced every other day and was in a rotation that consisted of backups Darrell Henderson and Malcolm Brown.

"I'm excited to see Todd Gurley continue to do his thing," McVay said. "He looks good, he's feeling good and we're looking forward to Sunday."

The Rams took a cautious approach with Gurley this year after he missed the final two games of last season due to inflammation and soreness in his left knee.

Gurley returned in an NFC Divisional Round matchup against the Dallas Cowboys and rushed for 115 yards and one touchdown on 16 carries. His workload decreased in the Rams' final two playoff games against the New Orleans Saints and New England Patriots, recording 14 total carries for 45 rushing yards.
