Aug. 6 (UPI) -- San Francisco 49ers running back Jerick McKinnon returned to the practice field after being removed from the physically unable to perform list.
The team announced Tuesday that McKinnon was activated from the active/physically unable to perform list. The tailback took to Twitter Monday and let fans know about his return.
"11 months 5 days let's get back to what we do now!" McKinnon wrote.
McKinnon signed a four-year, $30 million contract with the 49ers last off-season but suffered a torn ACL during a team workout last September. The knee injury forced the running back to miss the entire 2018 campaign.
The Minnesota Vikings selected McKinnon in the third round of the 2014 NFL Draft out of Georgia Southern. After four seasons with the Vikings, he signed a free-agent deal with the 49ers in March 2018.
McKinnon rushed for 570 yards and three touchdowns with Minnesota in the 2017 season. He added 51 receptions for 421 yards and two scores as the Vikings reached the NFC Championship Game.
In 58 career NFL games, McKinnon has 474 carries for 1,918 yards and seven touchdowns. He also has 142 catches for 984 yards and five scores.
McKinnon joins Matt Breida and off-season acquisition Tevin Coleman in the 49ers' backfield.
