Ravens QB Lamar Jackson on accuracy: 'It's been everywhere'

May 24 (UPI) -- Second-year Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson admitted that he has had accuracy issues in OTAs, saying that his throws have "been everywhere."

Jackson spoke to reporters Thursday, following the first week of OTAs. The Ravens return to the off-season training program Tuesday.

"I've got to get my spiral tighter," Jackson said. "It's been crazy. It's been everywhere."

Jackson said his hand is too high on the football at times, making the ball go "out of whack" a lot. The Ravens also promoted Greg Roman to offensive coordinator in January, after Marty Mornhinweg opted not to return to the role in 2019.

The Ravens also hired former Buffalo Bills quarterbacks coach David Culley as assistant head coach and passing coordinator. The moves means Jackson is learning a new offense.

"When I got here, coach was like 'yeah, we have a totally new system,'" Jackson said. "It has been getting to me a little bit."

The Ravens selected Jackson with the No. 32 overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft. Baltimore started the season 4-5 before moving to Jackson as the full-time starting quarterback and benching Joe Flacco. Baltimore traded Flacco to the Denver Broncos this off-season, turning the team over to Jackson.

Jackson posted a 6-1 record as a starter, leading the Ravens to the playoffs. He completed just 58.2 percent of his throws for 1,201 yards, six scores and three interceptions in 16 total appearances.

The Louisville product also showed off his wheels during his rookie campaign, running for 695 yards and five scores on 147 carries in 2018.

Jackson said he "sucked" at his first day of OTAs this off-season. He said he did better during his second day and was "alright" during his Thursday performance.

The Ravens have mandatory minicamp from June 11 to 13.
