Cowboys' Jerry Jones doesn't see punishment for RB Ezekiel Elliott

May 24 (UPI) -- Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said he doesn't see the NFL punishing Ezekiel Elliott, after the running back was filmed pushing a man at a music festival in Las Vegas.

Elliott attended the Electric Daisy Festival on Saturday. He was seen in a video filmed at about 3 a.m. while interacting with a security guard. Elliott approached the man and pushed him before the man fell into a fence.

A police officer then handcuffed Elliott, but he was not arrested. The star running back was released shortly after the incident.

"I think that the main thing is that I don't see anything that needs supporting," Jones told reporters Thursday. "In terms of his status with us, [it] has not been impacted in any way. Frankly, I know how conscientious he has been in the offseason, and that's good enough. No, I don't see that having any consequences for us."

Elliott, 23, missed six games in 2017 after being suspended for violating the NFL's personal conduct policy. He started 15 games in each of his other two NFL seasons. Elliott led the league in rushing in both of those seasons.

Jones said Elliott has had a "great off-season" which will speak for itself when it comes to potential discipline.

"His overall career at this point is at a really positive place," Jones said.

Elliott is under contract through 2020 and is set to make more than $9 million in 2020 after the Cowboys picked up the fifth-year option on his rookie contract. The Cowboys are expected to give Elliott a lucrative contract extension in the near future, making him the highest-paid running back in the NFL.
