Falcons' Jamon Brown pays for infant's funeral

May 15 (UPI) -- Atlanta Falcons guard Jamon Brown paid for the funeral expenses of a 1-month-old infant who died after his father allegedly hit him in a post-video game rage last week.

Brown, 26, learned of the incident from Danny Mosby, the executive director of the Jamon Brown Foundation. Like the family of the victim, Brown is from Louisville.

"I have a daughter of my own, and I can only imagine making an irrational decision after losing a video game," Brown told ESPN. "Not only what that would do to me but what that would do to my family. ... It's crazy some of the things that go on in this world."

The father, Anthony Trice, was indicted on first-degree murder and criminal abuse charges Wednesday. His bail was set at $1 million.

According to the police report, Trice struck his infant son in the head with his fist after losing in a video game May 4. Trice attempted to quiet the child but dropped him in the kitchen.

The child died of his injuries a day later. He was buried on Monday at Louisville's Green Meadows Memorial Cemetery.

"I can't thank him for his generosity because he definitely didn't have to bless us the way he did," Alvena Smith, the child's great-grandmother, told ESPN.

Brown signed a three-year, $18.75 million contract with the Falcons in March.
