Broncos RB Phillip Lindsay to receive MRI on wrist

Denver Broncos rookie running back Phillip Lindsay will spend part of his Christmas receiving an MRI on his injured right wrist.

Lindsay sustained the injury after getting hit by Oakland safety Erik Harris during a 7-yard gain in the third quarter of Monday night's 27-14 loss to the Raiders.

The undrafted rookie exited the contest with 10 carries for 46 yards for the Broncos (6-9), who will wrap up the season on Sunday (4:25 p.m. ET) against the visiting Los Angeles Chargers (11-4).

"I'm a tough dude and I'm going to do it for my team," the 5-foot-8, 190-pound Lindsay said of suiting up versus the Chargers. "If I can play, I'm going to play. Like I said, I can't tell you anything else right now, because I don't even know. So I'm going to go back (Tuesday) and go get looked at."

Lindsay's toughness was on display as he was shown on the sideline attempting to get back in the game.

"I was just going through a play and it got hit and it just got numb a little bit," the 24-year-old Lindsay said. "They took precaution and felt that I should stay out ... they decided it was probably smart for me to sit out."

Lindsay's 1,037 rushing yards are just 67 behind former Indianapolis Colts running back Dominic Rhodes for the most by an undrafted rookie. Rhodes gained 1,104 yards as a rookie with the Colts in 2001.

Lindsay is the first undrafted player on offense to be named to a Pro Bowl in his rookie season.
