Dallas Cowboys defensive lineman Tyrone Crawford was carted off the field with an apparent neck injury and transported to a hospital following the second play of Sunday's game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Crawford's head made contact with the shoulder of Buccaneers center Ryan Jensen.

Players on both teams immediately knelt next to the 6-foot-4, 285-pound Crawford as he was being placed on the stretcher.

Crawford was able to move his arms and gave the crowd a thumbs up gesture at AT&T Stadium while being carted off the field.

The Cowboys said Crawford sustained a neck strain and he was transported via ambulance to a local hospital for further evaluation.

Crawford, who is one of five team captains for the 2018 season, recorded 34 tackles, 5.5 sacks, one tackle for loss, 25 quarterback pressures and a forced fumble entering play on Sunday. His sack total is second-best on the team.

The 29-year-old Crawford has 177 tackles and 22 sacks in 91 career contests since being selected by Dallas with a third-round pick of the 2012 NFL Draft.

The Cowboys (8-6) can clinch the NFC East division title by either defeating the Buccaneers or if the Philadelphia Eagles lose to the Houston Texans on Sunday.
