Packers' Aaron Jones, Dolphins' Frank Gore knocked out of games

Dec. 16 (UPI) -- Green Bay Packers running back Aaron Jones and Miami Dolphins running back Frank Gore each exited their respective games on Sunday and did not return.

Jones suffered a knee injury in the first quarter of the Packers' game against the Chicago Bears at Solider Field in Chicago.

Gore also went down in the first quarter after suffering an ankle injury during the Dolphins' game against the Minnesota Vikings at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis. He was carted off of the field.

Gore had five carries for 14 yards before his departure. Dolphins rookie Kalen Ballage went on to score a 75-yard rushing touchdown in the third quarter.

Jones had four carries for eight yards before his exit. Jamaal Williams filled in following his departure. Jones entered the game averaging a league-best 5.6 yards per carry. He has 728 yards and eight scores this season for the Packers.

He also had a rushing touchdown in five consecutive games entering Sunday's NFC North battle.

Gore, 35, has 722 yards on 151 carries this season. He has not scored a rushing touchdown. He has never gone a full season without a rushing score during his 14-year NFL tenure. Gore has made 126 consecutive starts, the longest active streak for an NFL running back.

The Dolphins face the Jacksonville Jaguars in their final home game of the season at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 23 at Hard Rock Stadium. The Packers battle the New York Jets at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 23 at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J.
