Eagles' Malcolm Jenkins fined $12,500 for criticizing officials

Philadelphia Eagles safety Malcolm Jenkins was fined $12,500 for his criticism of a replay official, multiple media outlets reported Sunday.

Jenkins took an official to task after the Eagles were unsuccessful in their challenge of a ruling off the opening kickoff of last week's game, as Dallas Cowboys returner Jourdan Lewis appeared to fumble the ball.

The official ruling was that there was no recovery by the Eagles despite only players of that team around the ball.

"That was a pretty terrible call," the 30-year-old Jenkins said following Philadelphia's 29-23 overtime loss to Dallas. "They reviewed it and the explanation I got was that it wasn't a clear recovery, although Kamu (Grugier-Hill) had the ball in his hand and there was only Eagles defenders on the ball in replay. So whoever's watching that in New York should stay off the bottle."

Philadelphia also found itself on the wrong end of a controversial call as tight end Dallas Goedert was whistled for offensive pass interference on a 75-yard touchdown reception to tie the game. Former NFL vice president of officiating Dean Blandino later said that a foul should not have been called.

Jenkins has recorded 76 tackles, three forced fumbles and an interception in 13 games this season for the Eagles (6-7), who visit the Los Angeles Rams (11-2) on Sunday night.
