The future Hall of Fame coach began his news conference asking reporters if they were out doing their Christmas shopping. He said he is behind in shopping for his gifts.
"Christmas comes at an inconvenient time, right in the middle of football season. Every year," Belichick said.
He added that he would use Amazon.com to buy his gifts if he could "figure that out."
Belichick made the comments before discussing the Patriots' upcoming clash against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
The longtime coach is obviously an expert when it comes to the language of the pigskin, but he needs some work when it comes to the Internet. Last year he made it known that he isn't a frequent user of social media platforms by messing up their names during an interview with WEEI.
"As you know I'm not on SnapFace and all that, so I don't really get those. I'm really just worried about getting our team ready to go. I'm not really too worried about what they put on InstantChat, or whatever it is," Belichick said.
Part of the reason for Belichick's lack of Christmas spirit could be due to the fact that his Patriots just lost in brutal fashion to the Miami Dolphins. Suffering the setback last Sunday in the final seconds of a game that they led by five points before Dolphins star Kenyan Drake ran for a game-winning touchdown on a play now being dubbed as the "Miami Miracle."
The Patriots face the Steelers at 4:25 p.m. on Sunday at Heinz Field in Pittsburgh. New England battles the Buffalo Bills on Dec. 23. Belichick's Patriots squads have a 3-0 record on Dec. 23 and are 15-3 in the games immediately before Christmas during his previous 18 seasons with the franchise.
