Nov. 30 (UPI) -- Kareem Hunt is no longer a member of the Kansas City Chiefs.

The AFC West franchise released the star running back on Friday, after the NFL announced it was putting Hunt on the commissioner exempt list. The move to the list means that Hunt will not be able to participate in or attend games or practices.

The league announced the move on Friday night. TMZ released a video on Friday morning showing Hunt pushing and kicking a woman during an incident which occurred in February.

"The NFL's investigation, which began immediately following the incident in February, will include a review of the new information that was made public today," the league said.

Hunt was the NFL's leading rusher during his rookie campaign in 2018.

"Earlier this year, we were made aware of an incident involving running back Kareem Hunt," the Chiefs said in a statement.

"At that time, the National Football League and law enforcement initiated investigations into the issue. As part of our internal discussions with Kareem, several members of our management team spoke directly to him. Kareem was not truthful in those discussions. The video released today confirms that fact. We are releasing Kareem immediately."

The 23-year-old running back was a second-round pick in the 2017 NFL Draft. Hunt was signed through the 2020 season.

Kansas City battles the Oakland Raiders at 4:05 p.m. on Sunday in Oakland. Spencer Ware is slated to lead the Chiefs backfield in Hunt's absence.
