Los Angeles Rams cornerback Aqib Talib is inching closer to a return to the field.

Sidelined for the past nine weeks following ankle surgery, Talib participated in a walkthrough on Monday after being designated to return from injured reserve.

"The season really starts right now, so if you plan on doing something, you should have about eight games left -- those last eight games you should be working harder than your first 11 games," said the 32-year-old Talib, who could return to the field on Sunday as the Rams (10-1) visit the Detroit Lions (4-7).

Los Angeles would secure a postseason berth and the NFC West title with a victory at Ford Field.

"I know he's feeling good and he's really pushed it," Rams coach Sean McVay said. "As far as if he's ready to go, those are things that as the week progresses, we'll figure that out."

A five-time Pro Bowl selection, Talib was acquired by the Rams in an offseason trade with the Denver Broncos in exchange for a fifth-round pick.

Talib made the Pro Bowl in all four seasons with Denver as well as with the New England Patriots in 2013. He played his first four-plus seasons with Tampa Bay after the Buccaneers drafted him No. 20 overall in 2008.
