Jacksonville Jaguars fire OC Nathaniel Hackett

Nov. 26 (UPI) -- The Jacksonville Jaguars have fired offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett.

Jacksonville announced Hackett's dismissal on Monday, following Sunday's 24-21 loss to the Buffalo Bills. The Jaguars are on a seven-game losing streak after beginning the season 3-1.

"We would like to thank Nathaniel for his hard work and dedication to the Jaguars organization, and we wish him and his family the best moving forward," Jaguars coach Doug Marrone said in a news release.

"These are always tough decisions, but as the head coach, I have to do what I think is best for this football team."

Hackett was the third offensive coordinator that Jaguars quarterback Blake Bortles has worked with since being selected with the No. 3 overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft.

He joined the Jaguars' staff in 2015 as quarterbacks coach before being promoted to offensive coordinator in 2016.

Hackett's offense ranked No. 16 in rushing and No. 22 in passing in 2018.

The Jaguars host the Indianapolis Colts in an AFC South clash at 1 p.m. on Sunday at TIAA Bank Field in Jacksonville.
