Nov. 26 (UPI) -- Los Angeles Chargers running back Melvin Gordon will miss multiple weeks after suffering an MCL sprain in Week 12.

Sources told NFL Network that an MRI revealed a grade 2 MCL sprain. Gordon should be back before the end of the regular season "if all goes well," according to the report.

"His knee is swollen right now," Chargers coach Anthony Lynn told reporters Sunday. "We don't know exactly what it is. We'll get a full evaluation tomorrow, and we'll go from there."

Gordon's sprain is in his right knee. He was battling hamstring issues in his left leg entering the game. The 2016 Pro Bowl selection had 10 carries for 61 yards and two scores before leaving during the third quarter of Sunday's 45-10 win against the Arizona Cardinals.

He has 802 yards and nine touchdowns on 153 carries along with 44 catches for 453 yards and four scores this season.

Austin Ekeler is Gordon's primary backup. He had 103 yards from scrimmage and a score in Sunday's victory. He also recorded a team-high 10 receptions in the win.
