Nov. 23 (UPI) -- Ezekiel Elliott didn't jump back into the Salvation Army bucket after another Thanksgiving touchdown. He threw in some cash instead.

The Dallas Cowboys star running back performed the charity after burning the Washington Redskins for a 16-yard rushing score in the first quarter on Thursday at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. The Cowboys faced a 2nd-and-3 on the play when quarterback Dak Prescott dropped back and handed the ball off to Elliott.

Elliott took the ball straight through the Cowboys' offensive line before a quick step to his left. He then ran around defenders untouched, finding the left corner of the end zone. Elliott then walked to the back of the end zone and took some cash from a nearby cameraman.

He took the money and tossed it into the big red Salvation Army bucket behind the end zone. Elliott deposited a precise amount for his donation: $21. The total matched his jersey number.

"I was just thinking about what I could do today that would be a little bit different," Elliott told reporters. "Two years ago when I jumped in there, there were a bunch of $21 donations to the Salvation Army. Hopefully that first $21 that I put in there today triggers a lot of donations for them."

Elliott made another donation in the fourth quarter, dropping Prescott in the bucket.

The Cowboys star gashed the Redskins for 121 yards and a score on 26 carries in the victory. He momentarily leads the league with 1,074 yards on 217 carries. Elliott is averaging a league-best 97.6 rushing yards per game.
