Nov. 20 (UPI) -- Miami Dolphins quarterback Ryan Tannehill will be active and starting on Sunday against the Indianapolis Colts.

Dolphins coach Adam Gase announced Tannehill as the team's Week 12 starter when he met with the media on Tuesday. Tannehill, 30, has missed the Dolphins' last five games due to a shoulder injury. He has completed 65.9 percent of his throws for 972 yards, eight scores and five interceptions this season.

The Dolphins (5-5) were 3-2 before losing Tannehill. Dolphins backup Brock Osweiler completed 63 percent of his throws for 1,212 yards, five touchdowns and four interceptions in his five starts in relief of Tannehill.

Gase said Tannehill was making all of the throws he needed to make at practice. The Dolphins' coach said he didn't know if Tannehill would suffer a setback and he told Osweiler to be ready. He spoke to the quarterbacks on Monday night.

"I've talked to him [Tannehill] about making sure he is doing all of the things that the training staff needs him to do," Gase said. "The strength staff is involved as well. We need him to spend the amount of time he needs to spent..whatever it is to make sure he is good to go for practice or a game. That's really his No. 1 focus."
