Tennessee Titans QB Marcus Mariota questionable for next game

Tennessee Titans quarterback Marcus Mariota suffered a stinger in Sunday's 38-10 loss to the Indianapolis Colts, according to head coach Mike Vrabel, and he is questionable for next Monday's game against the Houston Texans.

It was feared on Sunday that Mariota had re-aggravated the elbow injury he suffered earlier this season. That injury, suffered in Week 1, forced him to miss Week 2 and continued to linger for the next few weeks.

Instead, he is dealing with a new issue.

Vrabel said Mariota is not in the concussion protocol and might be evaluated for a second time before he is cleared to play.

"We're hopeful that he'll check out and that he'll feel good enough to play on Monday," Vrabel said, according to the Tennessean. "Being less than 24 hours, some of these things take time to cool down."

A stinger is a nerve injury that causes pain and numbness from the neck down one arm.

Mariota suffered the injury in the closing moments of the first half when he took a big hit from Colts defensive lineman Tyquan Lewis.

Mariota was replaced by Blaine Gabbert for the final offensive play of the half. Gabbert stayed in the game for the second half while Mariota watched from the sideline.

Mariota completed 10-of-13 passes for 85 yards and an interception, while Gabbert finished 11-of-16 for 118 yards, one touchdown and one interception.
