Carolina Panthers safety Eric Reid was fined $10,026 by the NFL for his hit to the head of Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger.

Reid drew a personal foul penalty and was ejected during the Nov. 8 game after his right shoulder connected with Roethlisberger as the quarterback went into his slide at the end of a run.

Multiple members of the Steelers confronted Reid following the hit. Tensions eased after a few moments and Reid gave Roethlisberger a fist bump in what appeared to be an apology for the hit.

Reid has played six games since the Panthers signed him three weeks into the season. He has 36 total tackles and one interception in 2018.

The 26-year-old Reid started 12 of the 13 games he played for the San Francisco 49ers in 2017, when he had two interceptions, four passes defensed, one fumble recovery and 66 tackles. He has 11 interceptions, 35 passes defended, two sacks and 355 tackles since being selected by San Francisco with the 18th overall pick of the 2013 NFL Draft.
