Buffalo Bills release Week 1 starting QB Nathan Peterman

The Buffalo Bills released quarterback Nathan Peterman on Monday night.

A fifth-round draft pick out of Pittsburgh in 2017, Peterman was named the team's starter to open the season but was benched after throwing two interceptions in that game.

Peterman appeared in eight games with the Bills over the past two seasons, throwing for 548 yards, three touchdowns and 12 interceptions.

Peterman, 24, was squeezed out with Buffalo having rookie Josh Allen set to start after missing four games with a sprained right elbow. Peterman was also passed on the depth chart by newly signed Matt Barkley and Derek Anderson.

There is a chance the Bills will keep Peterman on via the practice squad assuming another team doesn't sign him to their active roster, which is not expected.
