Quarterback Eli Manning will be under center for the start of the New York Giants' game against the San Francisco 49ers, coach Pat Shurmur announced Tuesday.

"He's starting Monday. You guys roll with that how you want," Shurmur told reporters. "The idea is he'll get on a run here and there's no decision to be made."

Shurmur's announcement comes one week after he offered a lukewarm "We'll see" response when asked if the two-time Super Bowl-winning quarterback would start for the Giants (1-7) versus the 49ers (2-7).

Manning completed 30 of 47 passes for 316 yards with a touchdown and two interceptions on Oct. 28 as the Giants dropped their fifth straight game with a 20-13 setback against the Redskins. He connected with tight end Evan Engram on a 2-yard touchdown pass with 17 seconds to play.

The 37-year-old Manning has completed 215 of 315 passes for 2,377 yards with eight touchdowns and six interceptions this season.

In addition to the Manning news, Shurmur also said that backup rookie quarterback Kyle Lauletta would not be suspended following his arrest last week. The coach noted that there will be "internal consequences" for Lauletta and that the whole event was "disappointing."

Lauletta was arrested for "various motor vehicle and related disorderly persons offenses" pertaining to a traffic violation in Weehawken, N.J. He was charged with eluding police, obstructing administration of law, resisting arrest, reckless driving, disregarding an officer's directions, improper turn in a marked traffic lane and failure to remain in a marked lane.

"First things first, I want to apologize to the #NYGiants organization, my teammates, the fans and my family," Lauletta said, per the Giants official Twitter site. "The incident that happened last week is a terrible representation of who I am and what I stand for."
