Owner Jerry Jones said that Dak Prescott is the Dallas Cowboys' long-term answer at quarterback despite the immediate troubles of the team.

Prescott committed two turnovers on Monday that helped the Tennessee Titans post a 28-14 victory over the Cowboys (3-5). The 25-year-old has 10 touchdown passes against five interceptions and four lost fumbles this season.

"Listen, Dak is the quarterback of the Dallas Cowboys," Jones said on 105.3 The Fan in Dallas Tuesday. "He's young and he's going to get extended."

The Cowboys can begin negotiations with Prescott after this season or wait until after the 2019 campaign. They could also place the franchise tag on Prescott if necessary.

Prescott, a fourth-round pick in the 2016 NFL Draft, has a $630,000 base salary this season and is slated to make $720,000 in 2019.

After throwing 23 touchdown passes versus four interceptions en route to winning the Rookie of the Year Award in 2016, Prescott owns a 12-12 mark in his last 24 contests.

Prescott's pass intended for new acquisition Amari Cooper was intercepted by Kevin Byard in the end zone on Monday, ending one drive and changing the momentum of the contest.

"It's just as simple as I tried to force the ball," Prescott said. "They added guys in my face, and I just have to throw the ball out of the back of the end zone at that point. I just forced it."
